About Billy
Hi, I’m Billy, a Media Studies trainee teacher with a strong background in education, media production, and live sport media.
I studied BA (Hons) Football Business and Media at UCFB, where I developed a strong understanding of sport broadcasting, digital media, fan engagement, media industries, and the way content is produced across modern platforms. This has given me a particularly strong interest in live sport media and how media is used to connect with audiences.
I also have experience working in both mainstream secondary schools and Alternative Provision settings, which has helped me develop a calm, supportive, and adaptable approach when working with young people. Through this experience, I have supported a wide range of learners with different needs, confidence levels, and learning styles.
Alongside my education background, I have several years of practical media production experience, including video editing, filming, live events, school productions, theatre productions, and corporate media. This has given me real industry experience and a strong understanding of how media is planned, created, edited, and delivered.
I will also be starting teacher training as a Media Studies trainee teacher, continuing my development as an educator and subject specialist.

Lessons are designed to be clear, supportive, and engaging, helping students build confidence in Media Studies and Film Studies. The focus is on making theory easier to understand by linking key ideas to real examples from film, television, advertising, social media, digital platforms, sport media, and contemporary culture.
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs. Sessions can cover media language, representation, audience, industry, narrative, genre, film analysis, exam technique, coursework planning, essay structure, and key theorists. Lessons can also support students who find it difficult to organise ideas, develop arguments, or turn their knowledge into strong written answers.
A typical lesson lasts one hour, although this can be adapted depending on the student. Lessons may include discussion, close analysis of media texts, visual examples, revision activities, exam-style questions, and structured writing practice.
These lessons are suitable for students aged 14+, including GCSE, A Level, BTEC, college students, and introductory undergraduate learners. The aim is to make Media Studies and Film Studies feel less overwhelming, while helping students improve their confidence, subject knowledge, and ability to express their ideas clearly.
