About Renata

I am an enterprising and industrious MSc Psychology and MSc Global Mental Health graduate. I earned my BSc Psychology at London Metropolitan University and then went on to earn my MSc Global Mental Health, which focused on psychiatry, public health and epidemiology, at King's College and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I also have a BSc Psychology from the University of Maryland in the US. I have 11 years of experience in academia, with top marks, and have been twice published for my work and collaborations regarding the mental health effects of the war in Ukraine. I have lived and worked across five continents and have studied in three different countries. After my undergraduate studies, I worked in psychiatric rehabilitation and vocational counselling for adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness. I, now, focus on the humanitarian sector, specialising in conflict and disaster based trauma, victimology, migration, marginalised groups and human rights. My principal focus is on access to mental healthcare as a human right. I also have years of prior experience in teaching and tutoring. I taught English in Thailand to students from Chiang Mai University, preparing to take the IELTS exam. For which, I drew on my own experiences of learning English as a non-native speaker, to develop novel teaching methods to facilitate individual learning. During my undergraduate studies in the US, I also tutored disadvantaged minority students preparing to take the General Equivalency Exam, the equivalent of a High School Diploma. I tutored these students in Science, English, and Reading, and also provided written and verbal translation from English into Spanish for many of their families.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to individually cater to each student. I avoid using a blanket "one fits all" type of approach. Everyone learns differently, so I like to adapt my style and the material to suit the needs of each individual. I use my experience in mental health and tutoring, as well as my own personal learning experiences in my academic career, to develop and implement novel methods that facilitate individual learning.

There is a £5 travel fee for distances within 5 km. Please be aware that there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any session cancelled within 24 hours from the scheduled start time, will be liable for half the rate of the session.
