About Mario

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in the United States in 2013. I studied comparative literature (English and Italian). Last year I lived and worked in France at the Université de Tours, teaching English as a foreign language for university students and adults. Before going to France, I worked at my university as an Italian teacher for Americans. During my studies, I went to study in Florence and I worked in a high school, doing "tutoring" (help) for pupils in English. For this reason, I understand very well the difficulties that one has to learn a new language. My experience as a student and teacher inspires my passion for languages and to teach others like you!

About the lesson

Lessons are based on your level of English, but I usually offer two types of lessons: formal and informal. Informal lectures are mainly oriented (concern) towards a conversation. That is, to begin with we introduce ourselves and then establish a subject / topic that you find interesting. We discuss it together and take notes to create materials for you (documents, PowerPoint, weblinks, questions). I put our materials on Google Docs to study and help you improve your knowledge! Formal lessons instead focus mainly on grammar, pronunciation, etc. I have hundreds of documents (PDF, PowerPoint) with exercises for each level of English, both a basic and advanced level. Regarding the pronunciation, I use the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) to assist you. You can do a mix of formal / informal lessons, depending on what you want! In addition, I offer proofreading (corrections, revisions) of documents if you need to write something in English, both school homework and an important document (letter, email, etc.). In any case, I create interesting and personalized quality lessons for you! We speak mainly in English during the lessons, but I am fluent in Italian to clarify certain complex points, or if you do not feel at ease at the beginning! :)

Perfect! Mario è un insegnante eccezionale per me, molto paziente e super disponibile. Mi trovo bene con lui perché ha saputo comprendere le mie esigenze e strutturare le lezioni su misura per me. Il suo punto di forza è di essere madrelingua inglese, ma capisce e parla molto bene anche in italiano quindi mi risulta semplice chiedergli delle spiegazioni se non riesco ad esprimerle in altro modo. Davvero consigliato.
