About Riya
I am currently a Year 1 Economics undergraduate at the National University of Singapore and have studied Economics for 4 years during high school in India, where I achieved an All India Rank 3 in Grade 12. This strong academic background allows me to guide students effectively and share proven strategies for scoring well.
I want to teach not only to help students succeed, but also because it strengthens my own understanding. I strongly believe that teaching is one of the best ways to truly learn a subject. Being able to simplify a concept and make it less intimidating for someone else is something I genuinely enjoy and find very rewarding.
I’ve personally experienced the impact that good teachers can have. Some of my own teachers played a huge role in shaping my confidence and interest in Economics, and that’s something I hope to pass on to my students. As a current student myself, I also understand the challenges and pressure that come with academics, which helps me relate to my students and support them better.
I take this responsibility seriously and aim to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and improving step by step.

I take a structured and exam-focused approach to tutoring, designed to help students clearly understand concepts and perform well in assessments. My lessons are primarily based on well-organized slide notes that simplify key economic theories, followed by extensive practice through questions and tests. I believe consistent practice is essential in mastering Economics, so I incorporate regular exercises, past-paper style questions, and feedback to strengthen both understanding and exam technique.
Each lesson typically lasts 1 hour, allowing enough time to cover concepts in depth while also practicing application. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, relatable examples, ensuring students build strong fundamentals before moving to more advanced topics.
My lessons are best suited for middle school and secondary school students (approximately ages 12–17) who are studying Economics or looking to build a solid foundation in the subject. I can support both beginners and students preparing for school exams.
