About Paul
I’m a friendly, patient and approachable English teacher who enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds and helping them become more confident in using English.
I believe the best lessons are relaxed, engaging, and tailored to each student. I enjoy conversation and encouraging students to express themselves naturally, while creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
Outside teaching, I have a particular interest in literature, classic films, music, history, sport and more, which gives us plenty of interesting subjects to explore and discuss.

Hello, I am Paul, a qualified English teacher from Ireland living in England. I have over 18 years of classroom teaching experience and have taught learners of different ages, backgrounds and ability levels both in schools and online.
I hold a BA (Hons) in English, a PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and TEFL certification with specialist training in online teaching and examination preparation. Since 2023, I have also taught English online to international learners.
My lessons are tailored to the needs of each learner and focus on practical communication, confidence, and real-world English. Whether you need English for work, professional development, travel, study, or everyday conversation, I will help you improve in a supportive and structured way.
I use a communicative teaching approach, which means students learn by actively using English rather than simply completing exercises. Lessons may include conversation practice, pronunciation work, vocabulary development, grammar in context, reading activities, and speaking tasks based on real-life situations.
For professionals, I can also help with Business English, workplace communication, meetings, presentations, interviews, and professional writing.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged. Each lesson is adapted to your goals, interests, and current level.
I teach adults and young adults from beginner to advanced level. My teaching style is patient, friendly, organised, and encouraging. I aim to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable speaking English, making progress, and building confidence step by step.
