About Georgia
Hi, I'm Georgia! I’m a Postgraduate Research Student working towards my PhD in Literature with a thesis exploring the representation of anger in contemporary women’s writing and the relationship it has with the Gothic tradition. In addition to my research, I also teach undergraduate modules for the English department at the University of Southampton, and I work as an English Events Organiser, facilitating community events for the department. Reading and books have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I am passionate about sharing my love of literature with others. I have experience working with students aged 4-18, providing English support at all stages of education. Most recently, this has been supporting students studying for A-level English Literature exams (AQA syllabus). My approach to tutoring is flexible: no two students are the same, and neither should their lessons be. I aim to provide a supportive environment for learning that is tailored to each student. When I’m not researching, reading, or teaching, I’m listening to Taylor Swift and talking to anyone who will listen about Taylor Swift, and walking my two Springer Spaniels (Poppy and Jasper).

I'm currently studying for my PhD at the University of Southampton, having achieved First class and Distinction awards in my Undergraduate and MA degrees also at Southampton. Whilst I currently teach undergraduate seminars, I am happy to teach students of all ages, and I am experienced in tutoring GCSE and A-level students. I enjoy helping students to develop their critical thinking and analysis, paying particular attention to honing their close reading skills. I offer 1 hour sessions to students online.
