About Tim
Hey, my name is Tim and I'm half German, half American.
I graduated 2018 with my Abitur in Germany. I then received a scholarship to go to an independent high school in the US. Currently, I'm studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at the London School of Economics (LSE).
Besides my academic career, I've been a tutor for mathematics, social sciences, and latin in the past. Since 2020, I've been teaching English and German classes to teenagers from Hong Kong remotely with an e-learning start-up.

About the lesson

You learn a language to speak it. Therefore, I focus on getting my students participate actively in class in order for them to be confident expressing themselves in English.
Besides the spoken part of the class, I also offer an Academic Essay Writing course. This is particularly of interest for students who consider studying in the UK or any other English-speaking country because there is a specific way of writing essays, which unfortunately doesn't get taught in German schools. In this course, I teach my students how to confidently and effectively write a 500-1000 word essay easily by explaining the common structure and language of such an academic essay.
Fortunately with this method, the content is very flexible and I adjust it based on my students' interests.
Lastly, students can benefit from my insights and experiences with the application process for British universities and the transitioning to British system (or any other English-speaking system).
