About James
I studied French and Spanish at New College, Oxford University. I scored 4A*s at A level in French, Spanish, English and an EPQ, and 9A*s at GCSE. I have been a tutor for six years, to students ranging from 10-18 years old. I previously worked for Australia’s top tutoring agency LearnMate, as well as for Oppidan Education. I spent two years rowing for Oxford University Boat Club.

I aim to help students understand subjects in whichever way works best for them. I believe the main challenge of teaching is finding the explanation that makes sense for each person. While the topic may be the same, two people can understand it in an entirely different way. My goal is to find the way that makes sense for you! Languages are all about practice. Tutoring provides the perfect framework of accountability to help students gradually improve their language skills. I have extensive notes, tips and tricks on how to gain the same level of fluency and exam results that I did, which I will happily share with you.

Perfect! James is an excellent choice of tutor. My daughter enjoyed her lessons and the tutoring really helped her prepare for her Spanish GCSE. James instilled confidence, sent her notes on key phrases etc and gave her tricks and tips for her oral. He also helped her with filing as a bonus. I have no doubt that he has been of great help.
