About Zelie

I’m a voice teacher with 5+ years of experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after a long break. Whether you dream of joining a community choir, belting it out at karaoke, or simply singing around the house, I create a relaxed, encouraging space for you to grow. My approach focuses on breathwork, vocal relaxation, and posture to help your voice flow naturally and without strain. We’ll explore mindfulness in music—how awareness and presence can ease nerves and enrich your tone. I love helping students build comfort and joy in genres like Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult. You’ll learn how to use your voice with freedom and expression, even if you’ve never sung before. I work at your pace and tailor lessons to your goals, keeping things light, supportive, and fun. Singing can be a powerful outlet for self-care, creativity, and emotional release. Many of my students find their voice not just in music, but in life. Wherever you are in your journey, I’d love to help you reconnect with the simple joy of singing—just for you.

About the lesson

My teaching approach centers on helping singers develop agility, flexibility, and control in their voice. We focus on runs, riffs, melisma, and navigating tricky vocal passages with clarity and confidence. Through targeted vocal exercises, I train the voice to respond quickly and cleanly. Every lesson builds on solid technique, from breath support to resonance and articulation.

I break down complex passages into manageable parts, showing how to shape each note with precision. You’ll learn how to maintain tone quality and pitch accuracy even in fast-paced phrases. We also explore stylistic choices—how to make embellishments feel natural, musical, and expressive.

I’m very good with The Quartet Player and The Fiddler. I support them in mastering ornate vocal phrasing and adding expressive depth to their performances. Whether you’re singing solo or in harmony, you’ll build speed and smoothness with every note.

We’ll use call-and-response drills, ear training, and phrasing analysis to train both your voice and your musical instincts. You’ll feel the joy of singing with freedom and detail. With consistency and care, you’ll move through even the most intricate passages with ease. Let's unlock your full vocal potential—one graceful phrase at a time.
