About Rachel
I have been tutoring university students mainly for essay writing for a year for a variety of subjects including English, Literature, Sociology, and Psychology courses. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. Throughout my academic experience the most significant skills I cultivated and continue to cultivate are critically analyzing texts, as well as expressing and thinking about concepts creatively.

Hey :) I tutor for writing and analyzing humanities texts.
Through dialogue between me, the student, and the text, there are always new conceptual territories touched on by virtue of the unique perspectives of each person and how they engage with the text. This process I see as an opening up of space to explore different ideas - new insights are produced, rather than just the uncovering of old knowledge. Through humour and dialogue, I hope this learning process will be fun and meaningful.
As for my methodology for writing, we first read over together whatever material you have written, and then we will see what may need more substance, support, or clarification, and explore different ways of thinking/writing to fulfill those criteria. - If you need help beginning a paper, we will brainstorm together to explore what you find significant in the given material, and from there we will particularize and give substance to those concepts of significance.
