I am a dynamic and dedicated educator bringing over 20 years of experience in higher education, with a Doctor of Ministry and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I am passionate about delivering impactful instruction in Communication, Ethics, History, Religious Studies, and Humanities to diverse student populations of all ages and grade levels. I also possess a CELTA certification which allows me to excel in distance learning, teaching English as a Second Language to young learners. In my fields of social studies and ESL education, I think I am in a unique position to help students understand the world around them and interpret their experiences in it. Affective teaching is crucial for middle school and secondary education. Feelings, values, and personal attention will be in the forefront of my classroom activity. In my view, teachers have a responsibility to develop a student on all levels. To encourage cognitive development, social studies puts me in a wonderful position to emphasize interpretation, synthesis, and exploration of different ways of creating and criticizing. On an emotional level, I must be careful not to label students but rather to encourage exploration of all career fields and future choices. Socially, I must encourage healthy risk taking, risk taking which hopefully would lead away from overbearing conformity with peers.
