About Ezzera
My name is Ezzera Raney. I was raised in north Colorado by a family that traveled a lot. During these travels my parents fostered a love for beautiful flavors and food that would blossom as I grew. As a child I cooked with my parents a lot, nothing fancy but it was always amazing, especially if it was my Ma's recipe. It made sense then that my first job would be making food. I got a job slinging subs at a Jimmy John's, and I loved it. I worked a couple years there before moving on to a local bar and grill called Northside Tavern. I worked as a dishwasher, and I remember seeing all the cooks and thinking how cool they looked, I strived to be one of them. They were all tough, tatted up, very punk yet they worked to create something delicious, something that would brighten someone's day. It was inspirational. So I somehow convinced the chef that I had what it takes to be on the line. And I was in over my head. I spent 10-hour shifts cutting vegetables and portioning meat, making sauces and working the fryer. Only made it about 6 months before retreating back to the front of house where I remained for the next few years. My confidence grew as I aged, so when I found myself moved to Amarillo working the front of house at Six Car I made a similar call. One night the chef fired the grill cook, and I somehow convinced him that I could run his grill. I was in over my head, but this time I did not back down. Three years I mastered that grill top and honed in my knife skills and found myself on the fast track for management but an opportunity to work for a renowned chef in town presented itself so I took it. I went to work for what was then Baby Crush (now 2606 Wine and Bistro). There I spent the next five years learning the ins and outs of fine dining. Under Marcus (my head chef) I learned various traditional French techniques and refined my palate in Asian, Soul, Latin, African and Middle Eastern cuisines. Marcus eventually left and I was offered the head chef position where I spent the next year dialing in how to craft recipes from my pre-existing foundation. It was during this time that I met my now wife, and decided to leave behind my position to spend more time with her. So I went private. I cook for a lovely family in town, where I continue to expand my culinary talents. I have a lot of passion for cooking and would love nothing more than to share my passion and knowledge with anyone who wants to better experience the vibrancy of beautiful food.
