About Patrick
I have 20 years of experience as a trial and appellate attorney, practicing primarily in criminal defense, civil litigation, criminal and civil appeals, and post-conviction relief. I have successfully passed 5 different bar exams (all on the first try). My practice heavily concentrates on writing appeals, motions, and various petitions, so legal writing and analysis come as second nature. I have been tutoring law students to prepare for law school exams, law school papers, and the bar exam for 20 years. In addition, I have been training junior attorneys in legal writing, oral advocacy, and trial advocacy for almost 20 years. Through the use of not only the casebook materials they give you in law school, but real-life cases which I have handled, I will help the student learn and understand the rules of law, learn how to spot issues on an essay question, learn the techniques of effective essay-writing, and how to pick the correct answer in a multiple-choice question or write a good short answer. I will also help develop their writing style into a clear, concise, and organized set of facts and legal arguments that will result in effective advocacy.

I have a military background and a B.A. in History and Secondary Education, plus a Juris Doctor in general law. I have been teaching, mentoring, and tutoring for 20 years. Teaching methods including rote learning, Socratic method, critical thinking, and practical application.
We will use the cases they teach you in law school plus real-life examples of application of the law to hone your skills in issue-spotting, IRAC/CIRAC method, framing the issue properly, knowing the rules of law, and and applying the rules of law to reach the right conclusion.
The most common subjects are: Civil Procedure, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, Torts, Property, Contracts/Sales, Legal Writing, Evidence, Wills, Trusts and Estates, and Trial Techniques
