About Siena
I am a Physics tutor with 4 years of experience and a BSc in Physics. I have taught over 145 students at GCSE and A-Level with additional experience supporting early undergraduate students. My undergraduate training developed a strong foundation across all areas of Physics including experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches, which I draw on to provide varied and contextualised explanations for the concepts I teach. I am known among my students for genuine enthusiasm and for a particular ability to make abstract Physics concepts feel physically real and meaningful. Let me help you develop a Physics understanding that is deep, flexible, and genuinely your own.

My Physics teaching begins from the student's existing understanding of the physical world and works outward from there into the formal language and mathematics of Physics, because students who see Physics as a precise description of phenomena they already intuitively understand make sense of new material far faster than those who encounter Physics as an alien formal system. Every lesson in my studio includes at least one moment of genuine physical reasoning — asking the student to predict, explain, or evaluate a physical scenario — because this active reasoning practice is what develops the physical understanding that examinations ultimately assess. My electricity and circuit teaching uses the water flow analogy carefully and explicitly, both exploiting its genuine explanatory power and explicitly noting the specific points where the analogy breaks down, because most circuit misconceptions at GCSE and A-Level arise from students extending a helpful analogy beyond its valid range. Nuclear physics, which many students find particularly abstract, is taught with historical context — how the evidence was gathered, what experiments revealed each new layer of structure — because the human story of nuclear discovery makes the physics more concrete and memorable. I place strong emphasis on the skill of extracting relevant information from complex problem statements, because the ability to identify what a question is actually asking is often the limiting factor in examination performance for students who know the underlying Physics well. My teaching goal is a Physics student who experiences the subject as genuinely making sense rather than as an arbitrary collection of formulae to be memorised.
