About Melony
I have a BEd: Foundation Phase: Early Childhood Development Bachelors degree in education from UNISA (University of South Africa). I completed my four practical units with children between ages from 4 to 9. In 2012 – 2013, I taught extra English to one child age 6, and helped her with her homework exercises. I worked at a Zulu speaking pre-school for a few months in 2015 -2016. I have been teaching English to non-native English speaking children between ages 4 to 13 since 2017 to present. I received my 300-hour GA Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from i-to-i in August 2020.

I base my classes on the (1) Total Physical Response which I believe follows the idea of ‘learning by doing’. Beginners will learn English through a series of repetitive actions such as “Stand up”, “Open your book”, and “Close the door.” With TPR, the most important skill is aural comprehension and everything else will follow naturally later. (2) Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) this helps the learners communicate more effectively and correctly in realistic situations that they may find themselves in.
