About Laurier
I am a first year software engineering student at the University of Ottawa. I have a passion for math (especially linear algebra and calculus) as well as programming and physics; though this does not take away from my competences in other fields. Furthermore, I was raised bilingual with a French father and English mother, ensuring that I am quite comfortable in both languages. I graduated from the International Baccalaureate program, forcing me to take nearly all the high-school courses under the sun; every math, every science (biology, chemistry, physics), both languages, history etc. My method of teaching may differ from what you are used to, as I do not focus so much on tedious repetition as I do on true understanding of core concepts.

I have always helped those around me with difficulty learning concepts. In doing so, I have acquired skills which allow me to cater to the learner's individual needs, such as including subjects of interest in problems, and explaining abstract concepts in a way that makes them more intuitive. My belief is that memorizing for an exam is great for grades in the short term, but if a concept is understood, it is difficult to forget the knowledge acquired, and all questions using similar thought processes can be solved easily. It is a learning style different from the typical drills imposed by tutors who do not take the time to explain the "why" behind the solutions.
