About Heidi
I have been in the VSO for more than 6 years. Here I am a mentor and I give all subjects to a group of adolescents with mild intellectual disabilities. In addition to the learning problem, they often have other problems such as ADHD, ADD, autism etc. I find it every day a super challenge to see what I can offer them and would like to support pupils who fall between the shore and the ship. want to offer with learning, because not everyone is automatically speaking. For the VSO I also worked in the SO and applied to regular education where I often also work with children who need just a little more than anyone else.

Most importantly, I first find a basis for trust and mutual respect. I like to make sure that a student is comfortable and feels that he is understood and can be himself. From that base, you can often only come to learning. Everyone has that, when you do not feel comfortable or have less energy, your work often goes less well. That is no different for pupils who have problems with learning. When they feel good and safe they can concentrate on learning. Booking success experiences is very important. First of all join in with what it already can and cultivate self-confidence and then go one step further. Not looking at what is not going, but looking at what is already going and looking at how the rest can go better. Thats the way I work.
