About Stella
BACKGROUND
I am an American citizen and grew up in Buffalo, New York. I attended school in the USA before coming to study my Bachelors of Law at UCL. This background gives me particular insight into both American and British admission processes.
My A-Levels equivalent, which I took back in New York, were World History, Statistics, Biology, American History and English Language and Composition. For your reference, Oxford University requires undergraduates from the USA to have taken at least three APs each with a result of 5/5. As listed, I took five APs. I received a 5/5 on all of these, with the exception being one 4/5 for Statistics.
On the SAT examination, I scored a 1490 on my first try. On the ACT, I attained a 34. Again for reference, Oxford requires American applicants to have taken either the SAT or the ACT with marks of 1470 and 32, respectively.
EXPERIENCE
I have tutored students since I was 15, with a particular focus on English literature, composition and writing. During my time at UCL, I regularly ran educational seminars for sixth form students in London. These seminars focused on History, English and Law. I also spent a summer running classes for juvenile convicts in Cape Town, South Africa.
CURRENT ROLE
I am currently attaining my Masters in Law and undertaking the Legal Practice Course with the intent of becoming a solicitor. I am looking for a tutoring position not only to supplement my income, but because I thoroughly enjoy educating and working with younger individuals.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME...
In my spare time, I love to read. I am a particular fan of the fantasy genre, George RR Martin and Samantha Shannon being two of my favourite authors, but my most recent read was the memoir Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. I also love to hike and walk my dogs.
