About Maisie

I am a law student, I am part of 3 sporting clubs, and have a part-time job, so I do not have a lot of time (or unfortunately) money on my hands. Due to this I devised a way of using my planning, preparation, and cooking skills to ensure I stay healthy and well-fed. I am not a fitness/health nut, I just like to stay active and eat accordingly. I cook a lot of vegetarian/vegan food for its cost effectiveness, but I also cook with meat when it is on offer! When I go on holiday with friends I am always the designated cook for the trip. I also bake a lot and am always looking to experiment.
I can share my knowledge and love of home cooking and baking with you, with some shopping tips and health tips. You will come away with some great recipes, and some great improvising skills. I make hearty meals filled with love, even if they are not always instagrammable.

About the lesson

Want to get away from microwave meals, takeaways, or just eating the same thing day in day out for lack of time, money, or skill? Look no further!

I will teach you how to cook on a budget (both of time and money). This will include general meals, improvisational skills, and bulk cooking.

I aim to do this in a fun, relaxed environment. I enjoy cooking with music in the background, so prepare to DJ or be wowed by a themed playlist!

Before the lesson we will discuss the meal which we will prepare. I will then do the shop before coming to the lesson. My teaching method will include a short explanation of the ingredients if needed. Followed by general health and safety including cleanliness and use of kitchen utensils and equipment.
Afterwards we will begin to prepare the ingredients. With demonstrations and clear explanations, we will cook together (which is really the best way). Once everything is prepped we will start to cook them.
Extras and other tips will always be brought up. As the lessons continue, you will do all of the shopping, prep, and cooking under my supervision. Time management will also be progressed, making the cooking time shorter.
You should finish with a new recipe, a new skill, and hopefully some things to take into the future regarding cost effectiveness, time management, and health.
