About Alissa
I have both a Highly Qualified Arizona Teaching License, and I also am an Illinois certified K-9 teacher, with endorsements in Science, Social Studies, Consumer and Family Science, Reading/Language Arts, and Sociology.
During the eighteen years that I have spent in the classroom, I have tutored both adults and children in all subject areas, and I have been teaching English as a Second Language for 13 years.
Over the years, I have realized the benefit of recognizing and supporting the whole student with their inherent talents and their unique circumstances.
I make certain that each of my students is clear that I am on their “team” cheering them on to academic, social and emotional victory. I have a passion for giving back to society what they have given me, by teaching, I feel like I am able to accomplish this.

I love to teach skills that you would use in everyday life. I like to challenge, make learning fun, and have you seeking more...I review what we have already learned, teach you the next step, try exercises together, then have you do work on you own, with me being your cheerleader the whole way!
I see students who want to learn about America and its culture..I teach English, grammar, history, and everyday life skills (health, occupations and resume writing, family, looking to buy or rent a home, emergency situations, study skills, etc.)
