About Lukhanyo

Hello! My name is Lukhanyo, and I am a third-year Bachelor of Education student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I specialise in History and English and have practical teaching experience working with learners across different grades, as well as experience in tutoring and student mentoring.

I am passionate about helping learners develop a genuine understanding of their subjects and gain confidence in their academic abilities. My approach is patient, professional and learner-centred, with lessons tailored to each student's individual needs and goals.

Whether you need support with History essays and source-based questions, English literature and writing, Social Sciences, or effective study techniques, I am committed to providing structured and engaging lessons that help you improve.

As a student teacher, I bring both subject knowledge and an understanding of effective teaching methods to my lessons. I believe that every learner can improve when given the right support, clear guidance and opportunities to actively engage with their learning.

I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!

My approach to private tutoring is learner-centred, interactive and focused on helping students genuinely understand their work rather than simply memorising information. As a third-year Bachelor of Education student at the University of the Witwatersrand with practical teaching experience, I understand that learners have different needs, learning styles and levels of confidence.

I aim to create engaging lessons where students can ask questions freely, discuss ideas and actively participate in their learning. I use clear explanations, guided practice, discussion, examples and regular feedback to make challenging concepts easier to understand. My teaching is particularly focused on developing critical thinking, strong writing skills and effective examination techniques.

For History, I help learners develop skills in analysing historical sources, constructing strong arguments, writing structured essays and preparing effectively for examinations. For English and Social Sciences, lessons can focus on comprehension, literature, writing, language skills and understanding key concepts.

I am proficient in English and isiXhosa and can use both languages where appropriate to support understanding and make learning more accessible.

A typical lesson begins by identifying the learner's current understanding and specific areas of difficulty. We then work through the content using explanations, examples and practical activities, followed by guided practice and feedback. Lessons are adapted according to each learner's goals, whether they need help catching up, preparing for tests and examinations, improving their marks or aiming for distinctions.

My lessons are aimed primarily at Senior Phase and FET learners, including Grade 8 to Grade 12 students. I also offer support to students who want to strengthen their academic writing, research and study skills. My goal is to help learners become more confident, independent and capable in their learning.
