About Maria
I have been giving lessons for 4 years. I have taught over 70 students during that time. Many of my students have received high marks on their essays and assignments, have been accepted into various colleges and have also been accepted by many employers.

I provide lessons to middle-school, high-school and college-level students in essay writing and critical thinking. I completed a research-focused Master's degree at the University of Cambridge. Before that, I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and graduated with a 3.86 GPA. I intend to pursue a career in academia because I really love learning and hope to use my passions to help students in their own academic development. While most tutors aim to assist students with the completion of a classroom assignment, I intend to get to know my student's aspirations and tailor my teaching to their long-term academic goals. Therefore, I see my role as more of a mentor than a tutor. By building a good rapport with students and assessing their strengths and weaknesses before our lessons, I hope to sharpen students' critical and analytical skills and make them successful candidates when they begin to apply for college or even for work! Although my specialization is in History and English, I believe that my skills are transferable across many disciplines in the humanities and hope to show students that it is not only knowledge in a specific subject area that will make them successful, but also their ability to apply reasoning and deep thinking to all subject matters and in life!
