About Tim
I currently teach academic writing and study skills at a Russell Group university. My teaching philosophy revolves around helping you to build skills that will not only help with your current work, but also carry over into future assignments and the world beyond university. Whilst it may sound a bit odd, my end-goal is to help you reach a point where you no longer need my help! By talking over your ideas and the principles of good, critical, academic writing I will help you to take your thinking further, build arguments and analysis, and produce writing which clearly demonstrates the true potential of your skills.
I have a strong academic background in the arts, humanities and social sciences. I have a PhD in history, and I've published papers in teaching and pedagogy based on my academic practice. Whilst I primarily work with students in the arts, humanities and social sciences I can also potentially provide support with academic writing and study skills to students from STEM-based subjects as well.

My teaching will help you to truly understand both your subject and the way you study it. Together we'll talk through your ideas and discuss how best to express them through writing. I won't tell you what to write; instead, you'll learn how to develop your ideas and express them in an academic manner.
