About Tillie
During my time at school I was incredibly hardworking and achieved excellent grades as a result. I am a highly organised and disciplined individual who is soon to be training as a Secondary School English Teacher. In all the work I do, I pride myself in being understanding, supportive and professional.
Whether you need a grade improving or your confidence built, I am here to help you with clear strategy and measurable progress. I’m Looking forward to hearing from you!

I help students throughout my lessons to:
- Expand knowledge and build confidence on set texts through the development of sophisticated interpretations and strong contextual knowledge
- Improve essay structure and clarity to help students beyond basic responses and develop perceptive, high-level essays at the standard of Grade 7-9 (not exclusively)
- Master exam technique
- Analyse language and structure efficiently
… All up to standard and in accordance with the national curriculum and marking guidelines.
Lessons will be comprised of a balance between instruction, practice and feedback for both student and parents. Each session will be accompanied by useful resources to takeaway once the session has finished.
Although I only studied English Literature at A-Level, my successful background in Humanities allows me to provide students with a deeper understanding of persuasive writing, non-fiction analysis and modern texts - which is particularly useful for GCSE Language Paper 1 and Paper 2. I can teach authorial intention brilliantly, analyse narrative perspective, explain structural methods clearly and break down tone and rhetoric - making me stronger than many tutors in this context.
Lessons are robustly structured and exam focused, while being supportive and understanding of the student's personal goals. With this in mind, I personalise sessions based on the student’s requirements and use official mark schemes to ensure progress aligns appropriately with exam board expectations (AQA, Edexcel or OCR).
What sets me apart from other Tutors?
- I have been accepted onto a Secondary English PGCE Teacher Training course, meaning I am pursuing a career in teaching
- I offer a free 20 minute consultation before you decide to work with me to get clear on student’s requirements, goals and expectations
- As I am newly starting as a tutor, the first session you have with me will be marked as 50% off
