About Ellie
Over the past 6 years, I have taught piano to nearly 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults, helping them develop technical proficiency, expressive playing, and performance confidence. My teaching philosophy emphasises structured learning, consistent practice, and emotional connection with music, focusing on posture, hand coordination, finger control, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and interpretation.
Lessons combine technical exercises, repertoire practice, and music theory, and I provide guidance on effective home practice to ensure continuous improvement. Many students have performed successfully in recitals, school programmes, and competitions, and several have achieved high distinctions in graded examinations.
My goal is to foster a motivating and supportive environment where students feel confident, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential as pianists.

My piano teaching approach is built on personalisation, encouragement, flexibility, and collaboration. I begin by assessing each student’s abilities, learning style, and musical interests. I then tailor lessons to help them progress confidently and consistently. I focus on developing proper technique, rhythm accuracy, hand coordination, expressive playing, and strong reading skills.
I provide clear demonstrations and practical exercises that make learning effective and enjoyable. Flexibility allows lessons to evolve as the student grows, ensuring steady improvement without unnecessary pressure. Collaboration keeps students motivated, as they actively participate in setting goals and tracking progress.
I maintain a positive atmosphere where challenges are addressed with patience and achievements are celebrated. Along with piano instruction, I teach music theory, keyboard harmony, ear training, sight-reading, and basic composition to help students become well-rounded, confident, and independent musicians.
