About Zoey

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic piano tutor with 8 years of experience and a deep love for teaching. So far, I have taught between 150–200 students, including high school teens, college learners, and older adults who want to enjoy the beauty of music at their own pace. Teaching has allowed me to meet wonderful people and share the joy that piano brings. One of my proudest career milestones was helping several students reach their personal goals—whether that meant passing an exam, performing at an event, or simply learning their first complete song.

Seeing students achieve something they once thought was impossible is the reason I continue teaching with passion. My lessons are built on patience, understanding, and encouragement. I aim to make music feel simple and enjoyable, even for students who are learning for the first time. I believe in guiding each person with respect and positivity, helping them discover confidence and creativity through the piano.

My approach to teaching piano is based on practicality, creativity, and strong student support. I believe that music becomes easier to learn when it is connected to real-life experiences. Because of this, I use examples from everyday life—like comparing tempo to the speed of walking or relating musical mood to emotions we feel—to help students understand and remember concepts more easily. Case studies of real musicians or real songs also help students recognise how musical techniques are used in the world around them. Motivation is a key element of my teaching. I aim to make lessons enjoyable and rewarding so students stay excited about learning.

I give positive feedback, help students celebrate success, and gently guide them when they struggle. I believe that a motivated student not only learns faster but also enjoys the journey much more. Problem-solving is something I focus on because piano challenges often become easier with the right method. When a student has trouble with hand coordination, sight-reading, or finger strength, I break the task into small steps and show different ways to approach it. This builds confidence and helps students develop the ability to handle difficult musical tasks independently. Integrity is a foundation in my lessons. I aim to build trust by being honest, respectful, and consistent. Students know they can ask questions without fear, make mistakes without judgement, and grow at their own pace. I believe that a healthy teacher-student relationship helps learning become smoother and more enjoyable. Flexibility is important because every student has unique goals. I adjust lessons based on the student’s interests—whether they want to play classical music, pop songs, film music, or simple melodies. I can also change the teaching style to match their learning pace, personality, or schedule. This makes learning more effective and less stressful. Besides piano, I also teach related topics like music theory, rhythm training, and ear development. I use the same real-life examples, motivational strategies, and flexible methods to make each lesson helpful and clear. My goal is to help students build musical skills that last a lifetime.
