Teaching Methodology and Techniques

Drawing from over 30 years of experience in education and instructional design, I integrate active learning strategies such as Socratic questioning, case-based learning, project-based assessments, and the use of digital tools including Moodle, Kahoot, Canvas, and Articulate Storyline. I regularly incorporate Artificial Intelligence tools to personalize learning and enhance interactivity, aligning with my specialization in Digital Learning from my Master of Education at the University of Toronto.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical session begins with a brief diagnostic or reflection to assess prior understanding. This is followed by a short interactive lecture or explainer segment, integrating visuals or real-life examples tailored to the student’s field. I then move into applied activities—discussion, scenario analysis, or mini-projects—often using digital collaboration tools. The final segment focuses on reflection, feedback, and identifying follow-up goals. For asynchronous learners, I build structured modules with video, interactive quizzes, and peer-reviewed assignments.

I’ve taught and designed over 30 courses at multiple institutions including Trent University, Lambton College, Durham College, and others.
