About Andre
I have been teaching for a total of seven years. I have worked at both public and private schools. I am proficient in working with Honors, AP, and students with 504s and IEPs. With two Master's degrees, I am highly qualified in my subject area. I have devoted multiple years of my life honing my skills in English Lit.
I believe in the value of learning and education. My one goal in life is to help develop critical thinkers to send into the real world. I believe that education goes beyond the classroom.
I am patient and understanding. I have a personality that centers around dedication and spreading joy. My joy in life comes from seeing the growth and progress in my students. Every child deserves a champion, and I will gladly take on that role for my students.

I believe teaching and learning are both interactive and collaborative. I believe in meeting students where they are, and motivating them to be better. My lessons typically revolve around skills. I work closely with students to find their deficiencies and also their strengths. I like to alternate between working on a weakness and enhancing a strength. I believe EVERYONE is capable of learning and improving.
As a tutor, I think it is important to discover what the student wants to work on. I believe that students should have a say in their learning journey. I believe student voice is the first step to creating well-rounded thinkers. I believe in challenging students in both what they excel at, and what they are struggling at.
My lessons are for high school students 9-12. I work mainly in English Lit. I am also skilled in writing and grammar studies. I have a deep passion for literature and love to spread that love to my students.
