I love to get the student to state the issue they believe they have with the writing. This creates a dialogue between us, so that we can examine the issue and come up with the right lesson plan to tackle it. By using a previous essay, or a work of literature, we can then work on this issue within its proper context, resulting in 'real world' experience in finding the solution.
