  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

The first time I develop a passion for music is when I was 13 years old where I saw my music teacher performing in a band for a school performance. She's playing a keyboard and piano. For the first time I saw the performance, it drives my passion to learn music and I pick up my favourite instrument which is guitar. I picked up guitar because it sounds cool and interesting for me. I learn guitar with my teacher after I saw she performed in the band because the power of musical performance gives a significant influence to my passion in learning music.
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Yes the music that I really into it is jazz funk music. Well of course I listen to a few genres of music such as pop, rock ballad, and r&b, but looping on songs is more on jazz funk. There are several jazz funk artists that I listen to such as Lee Ritenour, Nile Rodgers, and Pat Matheny.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most difficult course I could personally give to my student of music is songwriting and composition course. They are varieties of difficulties for this course such as writing melodies, lyrics, harmony, formal structures, and so forth. First and foremost, students need to have a strong basic of music theory and at least the basic music background. If this basics is not strong, it's very difficult for me to teach the fundamentals of writing melody as well as harmony. So I have to teach from scratch regarding the fundamentals of music theory. Apart from that, songwriting courses require the use of technology in teaching and learning such as the need of Sibelius software, DAW software such as cubase, Ableton, Fruity Loop, and many others. So students need to have this facilities on their own for the aid of teaching and learning for songwriting course. Furthermore, students also at least have the background of musical instrument knowledge. It is a bonus if students could play an instrument, or more than one instrument. This could help students to understand more on writing songs based on the understanding of the musical instrument knowledge which they learned.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

The most complicated instrument to master is piano. There are a few reasons I would state here. First, it is difficult because we have to use both of right hand and left hand to play it. Not only that, we have to use all our 10 fingers as well to play tons of notes on the piano. Second, the piano is complicated to master is because we need to really master on the piano keys before we read the notes on the music sheets. This is because, students can't look at their hands and reading notes at the same time. Sometimes students look at their hands and sometimes they look at the music notes in the music sheets. Next, piano is complicated to master because we have to master the piano technical skills such as playing with dynamics and articulations.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success are practice, patience, and not giving up. Practice is essential as through practice, we learn from mistakes, we develop our musical skills, we get used to the musical tone, get fit for our hearing skills. Apart from that, we need to grasp all new musical knowledge and practice as well as applying the knowledge in the music field so that we will make music as our practice work and activities. On the other hand, the word giving up shouldn't be inside of ourselves. Work hard and don't even think of giving up is another keys to success. We have to learn and use all the mistakes we have made in the past to grow up and excel in the future.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Three musicians that I dream to meet are Lee Ritenour, David Foster, and Adam Levine. The reasons I dream of meeting these amazing musicians are because I love their musical ideas. The way Lee Ritenour improvising his guitar boosts my ideas on how to practice to be more innovative and creative during an improvisation. David Foster, his ideas of arranging music is superb. The way he arrange the music especially for brass sections on "Sway" song by Michael Buble. Next, Adam Levine. He was magnificent with his voice and the musical genres of Maroon 5 which hooks peoples' hearing and emotions. Thus, these magnificent musicians inspire me lots on music which could be my references in my teaching and learning materials.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

The most valuable anecdote related to music are when I could join musical performances with my music teacher, based on a special music course which offers various music instruments whom students could learn. There are a few performances with the music teachers in which we are performing at hotels for wedding ceremony, performing for a school program and concerts, performing for music camp and many others. Those are the valuable anecdot related to music in my whole life.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

First and foremost, I really love music and I do love to teach and share my musical knowledge to the people especially the youngsters who were really enthusiastic to become musicians. Teaching using the Superprof platform in the music field is really helpful and amazing because there are tons of students searching for music teachers to teach them about music. Furthermore, in superprof I receive the demands of students who want to learn music especially on guitars, drums, piano, keyboard, ukulele, singing, music theory, songwriting and composition, and many others. Moreover, Superprof is a friendly user in which, I could contact my students easily once I received their inquiries to learn music. All in all, it's easy and convenient to use Superprof as a teaching and learning platform and I would rate it for five stars.
