About Ashley
I am a graduate of a classical acting conservatory, with a degree in Acting. I am currently working on my BFA in Creative Writing, to continue and finish with my terminal MA in Theater.
I have worked in the performance world as a teacher, director, youth company director, and program director for the last 8 years. And since 2020, have spent the school years teaching in schools. I taught one year of first grade, and then moved into teaching Middle and High School English and Theater for three years. I spend my summers as a performing Arts director at a camp, and direct and work with campers and staff to create beautiful shows each summer.
I love to write and create, sing, act, direct, design, and I also am an avid reader and enjoy teaching literature from an acting mindset/ character forward mindset to help students understand how stories are structured and how character analysis is key to understanding what the author's intent behind the story is.
I enjoy grammar and spelling and all aspects of English, and I am an avid researcher.

One of my strengths is customization. No two students are alike, so each student will have options of the how they would like to go about it. I am a firm believe that education needs to be as customizable as possible. Most people learn at their own pace and in their own way, and that was something that I tried to implement in the schools I worked in as well.
For example:
A elementary student that needs help with grammar- I would utilize creative elements and fun exercises to help them gain confidence and understanding, as well as assist them with homework assignments.
Middle and high school assistance for ELA and writing can vary based off of the needs of the individual as well, whether that is bringing in options for brainstorming in different ways, or helping them revise a paper. Working with a student on analyzing a novel or script, or other various tasks that are needed for test preparation or successful course completion.
An Acting class can be as simple as working on emoting, to fine-tuning a monologue for an audition.
A Creative Writing class would go over the basics of how to construct a story, how to build your own world for your own story, and how to write effective and believable dialogue.
Depending on the class, I am open to anyone. From elementary age through adults. I am also open to helping students who want to learn English, I have experience working with them as well.
