About Norma
I enjoy passing along my strategies and enthusiasm for the craft of academic writing, and seeing students achieve the highest marks for their professionally constructued essay
I am a certified tutor, author and freelance writier with several journalistic credits to my name. I facilitated writers' critique groups for novice and experienced writers with one of my students going on to win a literary award for her memoir. I am the recipient of a Canadian Achiever's Award and find tutoring a thoroughly rewarding experience.

I believe in lifelong learning and am passionate about assisting others to achieve their academic goals and aspirations. I believe the key to successful tutoring is patience. I am a published author with a BA in Psychology and an Academic Writing Certificate from Queen's University. I love to teach essay writing because the skills, once learned, can be applied to all future academic writing. Furthermore, essay writing can be fun.
My lesson plans begin with pre-writing exercises, which include mindpapping, as well as research and outline construction. I go on to coach the student through thesis determination and initial draft, to citations and a final copyediit.
