About Samuel

The primary reason for me becoming a lecturer was to make a difference to students and change negative perceptions of the educational sector. I can honestly say I love my profession and find it extremely rewarding, even the challenging days are good days. I want learners to enjoy education as much as possible and for it not to be a burden or a struggle.
One of the key issues I have faced as a student during my GCSE's, A-Levels and during my undergraduate degree was that my experience was not personalised and that there was a lack of understanding of how we learn as people. It is extremely important that all my learners are heard and are able to grow both academically and socially. Student's should be able to learn in a way that suits them and this is a primary focus for me.

Being a young teacher I am often able to relate to student problems and frustrations within the sector, and therefore try to eliminate this or find solutions as soon as possible.

I thoroughly ensure my learners understand areas and have no issues with spending additional time in ensuring that specific information is being retained.

I am going in to my third year a teacher, and have had extremely successfully results over the past two academic years.I refuse to give up on students and ensure they get the best results possible. I do this through providing an individualised and supportive experience. As a lecturer I am constantly looking to improve my teaching and therefore often implement new strategies to get the best from students.

Working previously in the city centre of Nottingham I was able meet the needs of a multitude of different learners from different social and cultural backgrounds. I will always go the extra mile to ensure that I provide an excellent level of education to my learners but also to ensure that they are having a happy and positive experience. I would not change my profession for the world.

About the lesson

A little bit about my experience, qualifications and the lessons I will be offering:

Hello, I’m Sam. I have an undergraduate degree in Events Management which was primarily business based. Some key modules of note include, but are not limited to; marketing, organisational behaviour, finance and human resources.I was awarded a PGCE in post 14 education in July of 2021. I am also undertaking a Masters in Education to further aid me in my understanding of how people learn most effectively.
I am going into my 3rd year of being an educational practitioner and have taught BTEC business at levels 1 -3. I will be teaching AS & A level business and Access to business for this academic year.

As a current lecturer I focus primarily on a positive educational experience, learner engagement and student ownership. I ensure that students are prepared for exams and understand how to properly structure answers and coursework. I teach learners of various ages and abilities and understand the complexity of varied learner needs.

Through personal tutoring, i ensure my teaching style is tailored around the learner, which helps to offer an adaptive approach to teaching using both digital and practical techniques. This is something that will be discussed within the first session to suit the learner.
The lessons I am offering are for students undertaking BTEC business at Level 1 - 3, access level business, and undergraduate degrees in Business studies. I can support with exams, coursework and enhancing learner knowledge. The sessions will range from 1 - 2 hours depending on individual circumstance.
