About Sylvia

I hold a degree in History of Art and Architecture from King’s College, Cambridge, and currently work as a Creative Health and Outreach Curator in London. I am passionate about making art history more inclusive and accessible, ensuring that everyone can engage with the subject, regardless of their background or prior knowledge. Whether you’re preparing for exams, developing your critical thinking, or looking to deepen your understanding of art history, I offer thoughtful guidance and academic support. As a native French speaker, I also provide language support, including conversation practice, pronunciation coaching, and writing assistance. Additionally, I can help students with university applications, including preparation for interviews and written work, particularly for those applying to Cambridge. Lessons are tailored to your needs and designed to be engaging and approachable. Feel free to get in touch to discuss how I can help! :)

About the lesson

My teaching style is highly interactive and tailored to each student's learning style. I believe in using a mix of visual aids, real-world examples, and hands-on activities to make complex topics accessible. I focus on building strong foundational knowledge while encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills. My sessions often include: - Concept Breakdown: Simplifying complex ideas into manageable chunks. - Active Learning: Engaging students through questions, discussions, and practice exercises, such as visual analysis. - Feedback Loops: Regular check-ins to gauge understanding and adjust the pace. Typical Length of a Lesson: A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, balancing enough depth to cover topics thoroughly without overwhelming the student. However, this can be adjusted based on individual needs or specific subjects. Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor: I have extensive experience assisting students across various subjects and levels. My expertise spans from primary school topics to advanced college-level courses. My adaptable teaching style allows me to support a wide range of learning objectives, whether it's exam preparation, Cambridge application or enhancing critical thinking. Who the Lessons Are For: I tutor students of all ages - from elementary school through college, and even adult learners. My lessons are adaptable to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced students seeking deeper understanding or specialisation in Art history and/or French.
