About AJ

My name is AJ Elhossiani, and I am an educator, mentor, and advocate passionate about helping students find their voice and reach their full potential. I am currently a Political Science major with a minor in Education for Empowerment at the University of Michigan. I also work closely with elementary school students as a paraprofessional educator in a full-time capacity.

Growing up and working in under-resourced communities, I have seen firsthand how unequal access to education can limit opportunity. These experiences shaped my commitment to supporting students not just academically, but personally and professionally. I believe every student deserves guidance, encouragement, and tools to succeed, regardless of background.

Through my work in classrooms, community programs, and youth mentorship, I have helped students strengthen their writing, develop confidence in public speaking, and prepare strong resumes and college applications. My approach is patient, supportive, and focused on long-term growth. I do not just help students complete assignments. I teach them how to think critically, advocate for themselves, and believe in their abilities.

Outside of tutoring, I am deeply involved in community leadership and education justice initiatives, including co-founding my non-profit Project R.O.O.T.S., a program focused on providing educational workshops for high school aged students centered on healthy relationships, youth empowerment, and navigating intimate partner violence. I plan to pursue a career in law and public service, with the goal of creating more equitable systems for future generations.

My mission as a tutor is simple: to help students turn their ideas into power, their goals into action, and their potential into lasting success.

About the lesson

I offer personalized tutoring and coaching in essay writing, oral expression, and resume building for middle school, high school, and college students. My sessions focus not only on improving academic and professional skills, but also on building confidence, critical thinking, and self-advocacy.
With experience working in classrooms and mentoring youth, I help students turn their ideas into clear, powerful writing, develop strong public speaking and presentation skills, and create resumes and applications that truly reflect who they are. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, learning style, and background.
My approach is supportive, structured, and results-driven. Whether you are preparing for college applications, improving class performance, or getting ready for job interviews, I work with students to strengthen their voice, sharpen their skills, and succeed with confidence.
