About Saira
As the daughter of a teacher/tutor, I grew up in an environment where I was constantly surrounded by students and a studious atmosphere. My father set up a tutoring business, where he would teach students on the weekends and after-school. Watching my fellow students go from disliking education to loving it, due to the way in which subjects were being taught to them by my father, evoked such a passion for teaching within myself. I evolved from being one of his students to playing an active teaching role as a tutor. From attaining 100% in my 11+ exam to achieving A*A*A in my A-Levels to studying Dentistry at the top ranked Dental School in the UK, I have consistently flown high academically. Students consistently comment on my personality, and appreciate being taught by someone who is considerate, friendly, and bubbly. I defy the stereotypical outlook of a teacher, I am not intensely stern or boring, rather personable, and humorous. I am here to make learning fun and worthwhile!

I introduce my lessons with concise learning objectives, to provide students with a clear understanding of what I expect them to achieve by the end of the lesson. I will then use different teaching skills to teach my students what they are interested in or where they may need to improve. I will use different teaching styles to tailor to individual students. Where someone may excel by listening to a lecture, someone else may only prosper through kinaesthetic styles of learning. I will constantly ask questions, to ensure the student is engaged and is understanding what is being taught. Moreover, I will encourage the student to ask as many questions as they wish, to consolidate their learning! Dependent upon the aim of the lesson, I will create activities for the students to complete. This could range from past paper exam questions, to creating mind-maps, etc. I will summarise the lesson with a plenary. At this point I will be hopeful that my students have achieved the learning objectives. If requested or necessary I will set homework to be completed. Students consistently comment on my personality, and appreciate being taught by someone who is considerate, friendly, and bubbly. I defy the stereotypical outlook of a teacher, I am not intensely stern or boring, rather personable, and humorous. I am here to make learning fun and worthwhile! My teaching style is such that it varies from student to student. Some students may find the most success by engaging in lecture type teaching. Whilst others may benefit more from a kinaesthetic, more hands-on approach. I tailor my lessons to each individual student, to attain the best possible progress and grades. My teaching philosophy is that every single individual has the potential to succeed and excel, regardless of what they believe or may have been told. I was once told "Reach for the stars. You may not hit the stars, but you will hit the moon.". Every single individual can achieve their dreams in life, it is merely how this is done, that determines a winner.
