About Megan
I hold a 1st Class History Degree from the University of Birmingham, a Merit MA in Theatre Directing from the Royal Holloway and have just completed a MA in Museum Cultures with Curating at Birkbeck. My final award is pending but my average grade was a High Distinction.
Researching, planning, writing and formatting essays was an extensive part of all of these degrees and I am experienced at producing essays of varying lengths, on diverse subjects including dissertations where I have completed both 12,000 and 15,000 word projects.

My lessons are designed around your individual needs, whether you're looking for help developing an essay idea, improving your academic writing or getting to grips with feedback on an assignment.
I offer two main approaches, depending on what would be most useful to you:
1. Essay planning and sounding-board sessions
If you're struggling to get started, unsure how to approach a question or finding it difficult to develop your argument, we can talk it through together. These sessions are an opportunity to explore ideas, discuss relevant research, develop a clear structure and work out how to move forward with your assignment.
2. Detailed feedback on your work
If you've already written a draft, you can send it to me in advance alongside the assignment brief and marking criteria. I'll read through your work and prepare constructive feedback before we meet to discuss it together. We'll look at the structure, clarity of your argument, critical analysis, use of evidence and academic writing, identifying practical ways to strengthen your work.
I can also help with literature reviews, referencing, dissertation planning and developing your academic writing skills more generally.
Every session is tailored to you, and we can combine these approaches depending on where you are in the writing process.
My approach
I understand the challenges of university-level research and writing. My aim is to help you build confidence in your own ideas and develop the skills to approach future assignments independently.
All feedback is developmental: you remain the author of your work, and I'll help you identify how to improve it rather than writing it for you.
