About Sophie
I am very fortunate enough to do what I love and have taught Drama for many years. Drama extends itself not just to other subjects but life. Through narratives, scenarios and styles of theatre, you will develop your social, emotional and intellectual skills.
One of the most important ways a teacher can maintain their passion for education is to continue their own! I always reflect on my teaching. I always look at ways to make my lessons interesting and approachable. I always tailor my lessons to my specific students.

Hello! I have been teaching secondary (11-19) drama for over twenty years and I love it. Drama is not just a performative art; it is about listening, learning and imagination
Throughout my career I have made sure my lessons are innovative with varied pace and different tasks. Some of my favourite forms of drama are Improvisation, Physical Theatre and Devising. I write my own scripts outside of my work and relish the chance to learn more as a teacher.
The feedback I always get from my students is that they enjoy their lessons and always look forward to the next.
I did my degree at Goldsmiths in London and then studied education at Cardiff. I have taught in London, Wiltshire, Hong Kong and more recently the Highlands of Scotland. Some of the work I have done with students has been published and I continue to write articles for teachers in how to make drama relative to other subjects.
All pupils deserve to feel self-confident and be able to communicate easily. This is exactly what they develop in my lessons. Whether they are taking drama as an extra subject or one to continue to study at university; my students are
encouraged to be creative thinkers, ask questions and develop transferable skills to any part of their life.
In the words of Alan Rickman, “Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference. It can change the world.”
