About Sarah
I'm a HUGE English nerd, with a love of both learning and teaching, and again, have been helping students learn to love reading and writing since I was a young student myself, in high school. I will never make a student feel stupid, or inadequate, and I will do everything I can to make a student feel confident and excited to learn. I have experienced being a child who doesn't understand something, and who doesn't get the help they need, and feels lost and frustrated. So I will do my absolute best to make sure students I am responsible for never feel that way, and can tell me if they need help, without fearing ridicule or indifference.

I like to begin my lessons with a review of what was covered during the previous lesson, to make sure the student is comprehending the skills we're covering. Depending on the age of the student, I will utilize games, fun activities, or pop culture relevant examples to engage the student with their specific interests. With older students, I believe in speaking to them on their level. It can be harder to keep older students from getting discouraged or angry, but I have found that using their previous accomplishments as examples of their ability, as well as discovering their abilities outside of English or reading helps them feel more confident.
