About Izzy
Hi, I’m Izzy — a secondary English teacher from Sheffield who genuinely loves the subject I teach. When I’m not in the classroom, I’m usually reading (pretty much anything I can get my hands on) or attempting to write my own novel. It’s a slow process, but I enjoy every minute of it.
I’ve worked with a wide range of learners across KS3 and KS4, from confident students aiming for top grades to those who need a bit more patience, structure, and encouragement. I’m calm, friendly, and big on breaking things down into simple steps that actually make sense. My goal is always to help students feel capable, supported, and proud of their progress.

I’m a qualified secondary English teacher with experience across KS3, KS4 and KS5. This includes high-achieving classes and nurture groups with very low prior attainment. I specialise in building confidence, improving core skills, and helping students make clear, measurable progress in both English Language and Literature.
My lessons are structured, supportive, and fully personalised. I break down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps and teach in a way that feels accessible and encouraging. Whether a student is aiming for top grades or needs patient, confidence-building support, I adapt my methods to suit their pace and learning style.
I focus on:
- Clear modelling of reading and writing skills
- Scaffolded tasks with step-by-step guidance
- Active learning through discussion and short practice activities
- Immediate, constructive feedback
- Building confidence in anxious or reluctant learners
Lesson length and structure-
Most sessions are 60 minutes, giving time for teaching, practice, and feedback.
I can also offer 45-minute lessons for younger learners or students who benefit from shorter, focused sessions.
Each lesson typically includes:
- A quick check-in or warm-up
- A clear explanation or model of the skill
- Guided practice
- Independent application
- Feedback and next steps.
My lessons are for-
