About Amy
I am a MA English Literature student at the University of Edinburgh, with more than 5 years experience tutoring in: English Literature, Language, TESOL, TEFL, Literacy, Special Needs Literacy, GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate preparation. I've been working as a self-employed tutor since 16 in the Cambridgeshire area, with experience teaching between the ages of 6-18.
I have exceptional results from GCSE to A Level - A* English Literature GCSE (100% in all exams), A* in English Literature A Level and outstanding university results including Firsts in all 8 courses in my third year.

I'm friendly, fun, engaging - and most of all, personal. The passion I have for English shines through to my students. I pride myself on being able to motivate even the most reluctant of students by revitalising books, poems and plays that they previously considered irrelevant.
As each student is entirely unique, so is my methodology. While I employ a lot of traditional teaching methods - such as flash cards and mind maps - my central aim is to make what I am teaching relevant to that student. Shakespearean sonnets boring to the average 16 year old? Let's rewrite their favourite grime rap in the sonnet form. Struggle to understand the feuds between Montagues and Capulets? Let's rewrite the drama in Tweet form.
There is no such thing as a stupid, dumb, or bad student - just ones who haven't got the hang of it yet. No need to take my word - I offer a free first evaluation and lesson plan for every student.
