About Debbie

Our company is one of the most affordable dance schools in North Carolina. We provide lessons for any style of Dance and specialize in the partner dances like swing, salsa, Ballroom, and Hip Hop. Our sister company is a nonprofit that offers free dance lessons for youth with all abilities to learn partner dancing for free. With instructors with over 40 years dancing and teaching experience we bring the most educated staff to the triangle. We have provided choreography and lessons for television shows movies and Broadway for over 20 years. So if you really want to rock your wedding with a wonderful choreographed dance show then look no further! And of course what's a dancer without music we are also a professional DJ company and can provide music and dancers for any style including partner dancing, line dancing, country dancing,

I absolutely love to see the confidence that learning to dance brings to everyone. I know that dancing also teaches so much more than just dance. Through dance a person learns communcation and grace. Music and Dance helps our brains function more efficiently for a longer time. Our company also has a passion to offer lessons, DJs and Wedding first dances at an affordable rate so everyone can have the opportunity to have Music and Dance in their life!

I started teaching Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Hip Hop in California in my late teens and full time in my early 20s.

I added partner dances into the mix and started working in the film and television industry doing choreography for stars like Donald Sutherland, Dolly Parton, Sylvester and Brendan Fraser.

About the lesson

Discuss the goals, and the time frame that the student is looking to achieve those goals.

I work with beginners to professional competitors. I coach top competition couples around the world by the internet and lucky for me sometimes also in person!

By far the most difficult students are "stars" :-)

I absolutely love students who either think they can't learn to dance or have been told that they lack rhythm. The joy of helping them realize their goal of being a dancer is what makes my life meaningful!

I have never met a student I couldn't teach! There's so many ways to reach every person, and every way should be used until that person learns!

Look for a teacher that will teach you how to lead or how to follow not just the steps or patterns. Once you learn your skill of leading or following then learning multiple dances becomes easier.

Also, be aware of a dance teacher that encourages you to become a competitor if that is not what you originally came to them for. That is a sales tactic that is quite successful for Ballroom Studios.

While competition is fun, and I have nothing against it as I coach many competitors and still compete myself, it is very expensive for students.

Because I am still a competing swing dance master champion, I really love the US Open Swing Dance championships which are held each year in November in California.

Search YouTube for the US Open and you'll see many videos of fantastic dancers through the years! Search YouTube for my name, Debbie Ramsey and you'll even see some of me flying through the air!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If you are learning a partner dance, does that teacher both lead and follow at a social level in the style of dance you're wanting to learn.

Having an instructor that can do both lead and follow will mean that both men and women in private lessons will get skills and information from both sides of the dance equally.

All of my lessons are based on 1 hour lessons, not 45-minute lessons!

Partner dance Lessons are the same price for one or two people, one lead and one follow.

Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop and Line Dance are priced for 1 student but offers discounts for 2nd to 4th person in the lesson.

Discounts are available for private packages in all styles.
