About Amanda
I graduated of the University of Iowa in 2013 where I received my Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance with distinction. I also have an Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Music from Kirkwood Community College, where I still participate with the Kirkwood Community College Concert Band as their first chair oboist during the school year.
I’ve been working as a professional Private Music Teacher since 2014 and can honestly say I can’t think of anything else that would bring me such joy every day. I love working with students of all ages and abilities and get so much satisfaction from seeing how they grow and develop in their skills and performance. I have been teaching virtual lessons since March 2020, and I've enjoyed it more than I ever thought I would. Although it is very different from face-to-face, I have appreciated seeing my students gain more independence and grow musically. I also have enjoyed how convenient it is to most students, as well as being able to teach students that live much farther away from my home studio in Cedar Rapids, IA.
