About Elspeth
My name is Elspeth Walker, I have always loved Literature and the Arts in general. Since learning about English Literature and Creative Writing at Warwick University, I developed my passions with my MA in Writing at the Royal College of Art. I have been working in the arts for many years, from working in an art school in London, to publishing written work both in the UK and across Europe. I believe that everyone should be able to learn about their passions, and that the sad decline in arts education - whether it be English Literature or Art History - is why I want to help contribute to ensuring others can thrive in these fields, being supported on their educational journeys through my tutoring.

My approach to teaching is often through a step-by-step method, alongside an open space to learn, discuss and put into practice our knowledge. I tailor my lessons to the desired topic of each student - from curriculum targets, to specific books or techniques of interest. For literature and creative writing, I provide introductions to themes and theory, with examples provided, and some structured tasks to help develop each student's work. With fine art and art history, I create a step-by-step approach, again supported by examples, to build knowledge and portfolios. Lessons range from 1-2 hrs (for 2hr sessions there will be a 10-minute break for each student to help maintain focus). I have worked in an art school in London since 2021, in both our private studio and in local state schools, and have provided private group and individual workshops around literature, writing and art since 2022. I tutor from beginner to advanced. My work can be tailored to a qualification level such as GCSE, A Level or BA, but also for those wanting to expand their skills and knowledge in my subject areas.
