About Elena
Elena Gans-Pfister is a self-proclaimed fiber sculptor and installation-based artist who resides, teaches, and works in Philadelphia, PA. Using a variety of hand-fiber processes, which include, but are not limited to: cross-stitch, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and more, are the mechanisms they use to create their artistic practice and commission-based work. They often seek inspiration that is informed by micro and/or marine biology.
When teaching, Elena is known for their consideration, patience, and caring nature, which makes a welcoming learning environment and a safe space for students to ask questions. Elena values one-on-one time with each student to support them: building foundational skills in their chosen fiber technique, figuring out a new pattern or project they are working on. They pride themselves on being committed to aiding their students in growing with confidence, creativity, and curiosity.
