I am not only a teacher, but also a parent of two college-aged young adults. I know how challenging it can be to navigate high school years emotionally and academically. We all need support, and I hope to be an advocate for you. The goal is to be able to manage academics without putting too much pressure on yourself, and maybe even develop a love of learning as well.

I have experience in teaching English Literature to 9th - 12th graders across all levels...from struggling learners to Honors and Advanced Placement. My expertise is literary analysis and writing instruction. My approach as a tutor is based in dialogic instruction. Tutoring sessions would be based on student feedback, and using inquiry and discussion along with direct instruction to tailor each session based on the student's needs. The goal is for the student to grow as a writer and critical thinker and build skills they can use independently as a lifelong learner. What sets me apart from other tutors is not just my experience as a classroom teacher, but also over 15 years of experience as a mentor in grassroots mentoring programs. Relationships are key in engaging students, and in fostering student agency and autonomy in their own learning.
