About Brian
I’m Brian, an Arizona-licensed teacher with a PhD in History from the University of Michigan. I have taught American history at Michigan, undergraduate history through several US universities, and Edexcel IGCSE and A Level History at an international school.
My teaching and research have taken me across the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia. I enjoy helping students connect historical questions with the people, places, and experiences behind them.

History becomes easier to understand when you can connect events, examine evidence, and explain why people made the choices they did. I help students work through difficult readings, analyze historical sources, organize their ideas, and develop clear, well-supported essays.
We begin with your course materials and the questions you are finding difficult. Lessons combine discussion, explanation, and guided practice, with feedback you can apply to your next assignment.
I offer online support for high school and undergraduate history, geography, archaeology, politics and social studies, including preparation for United States and British exams (AP, GCSE, A Level).
