About Poppy
I'm Poppy, I'm a first year undergraduate at Queen Mary's University London studying History and International Relations. I loved history it was my favourite subject, however I found it difficult to turn my passion for the subject and the knowledge I had into answers that would get me grades I was proud of. This lead me to develop techniques to help to retain knowledge and answer the questions in the way the examiner is looking for which resulted in me achieving a Grade 9. I spent the most part of 2023 travelling and loved learning about different cultures and histories without the pressure of exams in a way I could truly enjoy. I want to be able to take that passion and enjoyment for learning and combine it with learning skills and techniques to help you to get a fuller and more enjoyable learning experience whilst still getting grades that you are proud of.

I offer history tutoring up to a GCSE level because even if you love the subject it can be hard to know exactly what the examiner is looking for. I can help you accurately answer questions and think about what exactly is being asked, so you can gain confidence in answering short, medium and long answer questions.
I can teach you fun but effective ways of learning and remembering all the dates, people and events using visual cues and colour coding to make sure it sticks in your mind.
I can also help you with how to write a historical essay which shows off your best skills, showing you know the information without becoming too descriptive and still being analytical.
I typically offer 30 minutes to an hour sessions depending on what works best for you and can help with other humanities and essay based subjects up to a GCSE level as well.
