About Mariam
I’m a Latin tutor with an MA in Classics and experience teaching middle and high school students. I also began a PhD in Latin before choosing to focus on teaching, so I bring both advanced academic training and practical classroom experience to my lessons.
I specialize in helping students move beyond memorization to actually understanding and reading Latin with confidence. Whether you’re just starting out, preparing for exams, or feeling stuck in class, I break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and adapt each lesson to your goals.

My goal is to make Latin feel clear and approachable. I know it can seem overwhelming at first, so I break things down step by step while helping you actually read and understand the language—not just memorize charts.
For example, if we take a simple sentence like puella rosam dat, instead of translating word by word, I’ll show you how to recognize the subject, verb, and object so you can quickly understand: “the girl gives the rose.” That way, you’re building skills you can use on any passage.
In our lessons, you can expect a supportive, low-pressure environment where we focus on your goals—whether that’s improving grades, preparing for exams, or just finally making sense of Latin.
