About David

ABOUT ME

I’m David Banta, a multi-platinum Billboard #1 recording engineer, pianist, arranger, transcriber, and educator. I’m a strong sight reader and have created piano transcriptions for John Legend, Adele, Lady Gaga, and Sarah McLachlan’s “Better Broken,” with decades of professional studio experience.

About the lesson

My lessons are customized to each student’s goals. I teach piano, sight reading, music theory, ear training, recording engineering, mixing, music production, arranging, transcription, and DAW workflow.

Some students want to learn piano and play songs right away. Others want to improve their reading, understand chords and theory, become better producers, improve their mixes, or learn how professional records are really made.

Lessons can include:

• Piano and keyboard skills
• Sight reading
• Music theory explained clearly
• Ear training
• Chords, scales, rhythm, and song structure
• Recording engineering and studio techniques
• Mixing, EQ, compression, and effects
• Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic, and other DAW workflows
• Songwriting, arranging, and transcription
• Preparing music for professional release

I work with beginners, intermediate students, advanced musicians, singers, songwriters, producers, and recording students. My goal is to help you make real progress, understand what you are doing, and enjoy the process.
